Get inspired: Yellow Editorial

Happy Friday! While I’m writing this there’s a snow globe happening outside my window LOL what a great time to talk about Spring happenings around here! Wedding season in Michigan is usually pretty slow due to the weather listed above so this is my favorite time to spend time growing and working on my craft. While a lot of photographers use styled shoots to grow their portfolio and target new clients I incorporate styled editorials into my schedule for so much more!

  1. Styled editorials allow me to hone in on my technical skills and practice new things for the upcoming season.
  2. Styled editorials also allow me to get inspired for the wedding season, it creates excitement for not only me but my clients as I post new, fresh photos!
  3. The community- styled shoots allow me to meet new photographers I don’t know yet and allow me to create with wedding vendors I have yet to work with.

This styled editorial took place in the heart of Detroit, MI at the new Niki Marie Studio. It served as the perfect backdrop to Ashley & Niki’s vision for this spring editorial. My favorite part was learning from both Ashley and Niki during the shoots, we got to pick both their brains during the editorial then after during a sit down q&a. What a great inspiration for Spring/ Summer weddings! The inspiration came from daffodils sprouting in Spring. My absolute favorite part of the shoot was the detailing on the brides dress and the swan menus! Hope you enjoy!
